His work is concerned with geometric patterns and organic shapes found in nature. These become building blocks for my paintings, photographs, sculpture and jewelry. From 1970-72, James studied ceramics at the Chrysler Museum in Nortfolk VA. Wishing to further his art education, he came to Baltimore to attend MICA and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1977. For 35 years, he worked as an orthotist and prosthetic technician. Just before retirement, he did his most exciting work casting and fabricating in silicone. His artwork is informed by the sculptural aspects of time spent designing and building prosthetics. As of late, James has become enamored with making jewelry.

In addition to his visual art he has played a wide variety of music in the Baltimore / Washington area for over forty years, R&B, soul, traditional American, Punk and Irish.
